Join us as we stumble through the joys and perils of parenthood, while our son teaches us a few things along the road...

about us

little snippet about me...

hi i'm annaliese! i'm a stay-at-home-momma to a sweet 6 ½ year old boy {aka "the russky"}.  of course, i say that, but he's in school most of the day!  i'm a hater of capital letters; lover of all things gummy candy; die-hard hgtv fan; neat-nick; avid reader; and a fiercely loyal friend.  i’m married to the most amaze-balls man, who is the love of my life.  he is a fireman/paramedic, and our real-life hero.  together we adopted nicky the noodle 4 years ago from st petersburg, russia.

i am a part-time marketing assistant for a software company and a full-time blog-a-holic...that is when it comes to trolling the internet for home design, diy projects, craft ideas and cool tips to make me a more funner momma!

i'm pretty random with regards to updating this here blog...but i vow to get back into the swing of it starting now...ok...well...maybe after i pin one more thing to pinterest that is!

little snippet about my wonderful life...

kris and i met in april 2004; he was living in the big d, and i in san antonio. we both happened to be in the same place at the same time...yes – we met in a bar.  kris swore he would never marry a girl he met in a bar, but i was just that awesometastic, he couldn’t resist me!  kris, being shy and having no game whatsoever, sent his friend steve over to talk to me and i knew from that very moment we would spend the rest of our lives together {aw...how sweet!}.

we were married in september 2005 and after a year {and an awesome trip to Europe}, we decided we were "ready" to add a child to the mix; we already had two 4-legged, furry ones {Blitzer – who we lost this year - and Bailey; we added the sweet, short-legged Oliver to the family for Nick’s 5th birthday}.  we tried to get pregnant for about a year, when we found out that having a birth child was not in the cards for us.

we quickly realized that God's greatest gift would be for us to adopt a little boy from russia. i had always been fascinated with russian history, and curious about the culture. we knew in our hearts that this was meant to be and thus we began our 9 month "paper pregnancy"!

it's been quite the journey to settling into our forever family, but one well worth every second {albeit some very loooonnnngggg seconds!}.   we wouldn't change a thing and are excited to see what the next chapter of our lives as the johnson trio holds!  thanks for stopping by our little piece of the blog-o-sphere and checking us out!

Hi Annaliese!
I found you through an EAC pin on pinterest :) Our son is adopted from Tver Russia (at 7 months in 2204) and our daughter from St P at 16 months in Jan 2010. God bless you and your adorable family. I'm also a land locked (Co) beach lover (San Diego native) with a sarcastic sense of humor..you sound like our kind of people
